I am a lifelong fan of rock and metal, I was born and raised into the genre through my parents. It was here that I developed a love for 'classic' rock, although I actually detest that term. From this point of origin, I spread out, broadened my horizons into alternative rock as well as discovering a love for black, doom, death, thrash, power and traditional heavy metal, culminating in writing for Fireworks magazine, which specialised in melodic hard rock and AOR in the mid 2000's. However, I decided that I needed some time away to assess life and left a life of reviewing behind. As I got older, the musical Nazi in me has been eroded away, exchanging volatile and confrontational views embedded in a subjective attitude, into a much more passive and objective view. I found that this gave myself a clearer perspective when writing, being able to review music that was not exactly to my taste. In mid 2016, I found myself at a loose end and decided to give writing another go. Although I had never stopped listening to music and collecting albums is one of my favourite pastimes, I instantly found writing enjoyable again; initially writing for pleasure before finding the courage to apply to Metalheads Forever Magazine where I have worked ever since. Recently, I have also started working for PowerPlay Magazine. |
